Akoya
Whimsical Genasi Druid Seeking Balance
The water Genasi Druid has blue skin and short hair that is deep blue at the roots, becoming blindingly white at the ends. Her hair stands straight up and looks as though it might be waving like kelp in the water, but you convince yourself you must be seeing things. Icy blue eyes pierce into yours, searching, then twinkle with mischief before looking on to the latest interest. When she walks past, you could swear you smelled the freshness of a summer field after an afternoon rain shower.
Akoya has spent several years traveling, mostly alone but with friends whenever they will come along. Her home life was quite boring at best and suffocating at worst, especially since no one in her home town could trust her - simply due her strange and Elemental appearance.
About a year ago, after traveling for some time, Akoya settled into an abandoned cabin on a west-facing sea side where she fell in love with the sunsets over the water. She was not secretive about moving to the area, so it wasn't long before the cook from the nearby town wandered into her area in search of food to prepare for his customers. Caught unaware and frightened, Akoya shapeshifted into a massive bear in front of the stout halfling, rose onto her hind quarters and bellowed the most ferocious roar she could muster. When the short, brutish creature stood his ground, Akoya came back down to all fours, curious. A tentative relationship formed that soon became a mutual-respect friendship. Akoya will now often catch extra fish and rabbit to bring to the cook to ease his search.
Close to 6 months after her arrival at the beach cabin, she was out on a stroll and heard three distinct voices arguing. Never one to shy from an interaction, Akoya followed the voices to a nearby grove, but only found two squishy beings - a young human and a young elf. Looking around for the third, she approached the suspicious looking duo who appeared to be holding a sword. Upon her arrival to their location, the boy and the elf hurriedly stuffed the sword under their packs on the ground but she could have sworn she heard an angsty humph from the weapon as they did so. In her true, untactful style, the Genasi used her waterbending powers to pull out the secret sword. After some interrogation, the sword revealed itself to be sentient! At which point Akoya could not hold back her excitement and flooded the space with ideas of all the things one could do with a sentient sword. The boys, however, were intent on keeping it a secret, much to the chagrin of the sword.
After several months the magic users and the druid became closer and the druid even convinced the boys to go off on several adventures to try out the sword. All the while, the fatherly Callby watched over them silently, providing food and advice when asked. Eventually, realizing just how weak her compatriots were, Akoya secretly invited Callby on one of their adventures. And they have been fighting orcs and protecting the town ever since.
